Horsin' Around Pays Off!

Last night we attended the Awards Banquet for last season's horse shows. We had to drive over an hour to get there, so it was a late night for us...but it was totally worth it! Kat and SUG's girl cleaned up at awards time! We were so proud of them. They worked hard last season, learned a lot in a short amount of time, and did a lot of growing. In the end, we left with 2 first place awards and 4 second place awards between them! That means in their age catagory, in 4 different events, they won all the second places and 2 of the first places!

Kat and Hickory won Second place in Jump, Trail, and Showmanship. They placed 6th in Halter. We were all fairly surprised at the Halter showing...Hickory isn't much of a "Halter" horse. Halter is where they judge just the horse...its appearance...how well built it is, how long it's neck is, how straight it holds its head, etc. Hickory is a "round" horse. That's a nice way of saying he's fat. And his neck is short. So 6th place, about middle of the pack, is really good for him!

SUG's girl did well too...First place in Showmanship and Trail, Second place in Halter, and 6th in Jump. Her horse is very pretty. A cutie with gorgeous blue eyes. But she doesn't like to jump...at all. So again, 6th place was pretty impressive for a horse that won't jump about half the time.

So...we were very proud of our girls last night! New season starts soon! It will be fun to see what's around the corner!

Congratulations Kat and The Thinker!
